Chief John Rogers

John Rogers has been in the fire service since 1995. He received his initial fire training at the Montrose Fire Protection District’s Fire Academy. He also graduated from a fire academy with the Avon Fire Department and served two years with them. Chief Rogers joined the Montrose Fire Department in 1995 and currently serves as a Battalion Chief. He is certified as a paramedic and has numerous other fire and medical certifications. Chief Rogers joined the Log Hill Volunteer Fire Department in September 2003. Since joining the Department, he has introduced many practices which have greatly improved firefighter training and safety and provided Log Hill Mesa with highly professional fire protection.


Asst. Chief Tom Austin

Asst Chief Tom Austin

Tom Austin graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point in 1980 and was commissioned as a lieutenant in the Armor Corps. He received his Masters of Systems Management degree from the Florida Institute of Technology in 1993. Austin retired from the Army as a Major in 1996 after serving in Korea, Germany, Kuwait, Iraq and Cambodia. After moving to Log Hill Mesa in 2003, Austin joined the Department as a firefighter in August 2003. He was appointed to the position of Assistant Fire Chief in June 2004. Austin has served as the Incident Commander on numerous fires throughout his career and has worked closely with mutual aid departments such as the Ridgway Fire Department, The Bureau of Land Management and the Montrose Fire Department. In 2007, Assistant Chief Austin received the annual "Chief’s Award" for his many contributions to the Log Hill Volunteer Fire Department.
