Log Hill Volunteer Fire Department

Ways You Can Help

Firefighters are often asked how residents of the mesa can help us protect this beautiful area we call home.  We always recommend four ways you can help:

  1.  Prepare your property and family to be ready in the event of a wildfire.  Mitigate around your property and use Firewise principles to better prepare your residence to survive in the event of a wildfire.  Develop a plan for your family in accordance with the Ready, Set, Go! Program so you will be able to react quickly when an emergency strikes.  Firewise and Ready, Set, Go! resources are available at:  http://www.loghillfire.org/references.php.

  2. Emergency Notifications are crucial in the event of an emergency.  We encourage everyone to sign up for emergency notification at:  http://www.loghillfire.org/notifications.php.  You can, and should, sign up all cell phones, VOIP and satellite phones to receive messages in the event of an emergency.  We would also encourage you to log into the system and verify that your information is correct every spring before wildfire season begins.

  3. We continue to encourage people who have time to volunteer and think they are capable of committing as a volunteer firefighter to step forward and join us.  Our recruiting brochure is at the bottom of this page and outlines our expectations of firefighters.  Click here for the same brochure in PDF http://www.loghillfire.org/images/icon_pdf.gif to view and print.

  4. Finally, Log Hill Fire’s property tax revenue has dropped by over 30% with the decrease in property values throughout the district since 2011.  We continue to steward the tax funds we receive and use them to best protect the residents of the district and our firefighters.  To continue to provide the best fire protection we can, we always accept donations from our residents.  To contribute, mail any donations to Log Hill Mesa Fire Protection District, P. O. Box 747, Montrose, CO 81402.
